We all know the Maldives is famous for its luxury, and we will be honest we’ve never seen luxury quite like it! But what is diving like around these resorts? Well, amazing of course, just like all diving in the Maldives!
The Maldives features some of the most exquisite marine environments on Earth. More than 95% of Maldives consists of the sea. Surrounded with coral reefs and sandy atolls, there is every reason to go on a diving trip to the Maldives.
And if you are diving in the Maldives, it will be the most beautiful scenery you will ever see in your life.
The underwater ecology of the Maldives is tremendous. Host to manta, marble and eagle rays, the sea is alive with peaceful sharks of many kinds. Grey reef, nurse and whale are just a few of sharks types that Scuba Divers have the chance to see when diving in the Maldives.
The northern atolls tend to have healthier reefs and better macro life, while the southern atolls have more sharks. Since the 1200 islands that make up the Maldives are scattered over a large area, and the best diving is found inside and outside the atoll lagoons and in the channels in between.
Hanifaru Bay, in the Baa Atoll, has Manta Rays and Whale Sharks during the middle and the end of the South West Monsoon which runs from April to November.
Many dive sites have napoleon wrasse, barracuda, reef sharks including grey reef, whitetip and blacktip, spotted eagle rays, large marbled rays, trevally and tuna. The current will help bring out more of these larger animals.
Some atolls can also produce hammerhead sharks, although this is only at particular dive sites.
For divers of any level, whether beginner or expert, it is possible to enjoy a holiday in the Maldives from an underwater perspective that is second to none.
