Here’s what you should know
You are not required to do any testing for COVID-19 prior to arrival or departure unless presenting symptoms. Certificates or test results indicating negative status for COVID-19 prior to arrival are also not required.
However, it is discouraged for persons who have a history of contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID19 in the past 14 days, to be travelling to the Maldives.
It is also advisable to refrain from travelling if you personally experience any symptoms of COVID19 prior to your travels.
Considering the current situation, an online Traveler Health Declaration form must be filled twice – once prior to travelling to Maldives and the second time, before departing from your destination.

Guests are also under no obligation to quarantine unless symptoms are present.
Tourists must spend their entire stay at one single guesthouse or resort and are not permitted to travel to any other resort, island or uninhabited island.
Similarly, if you have booked a safari trip you are obliged to spend the entire duration of the trip on the safari and must not disembark onto any other resort, island, or uninhabited island.
We would like to inform you that all resorts have well trained staff and medical officers who are oriented on the protocols of COVID-19. Any COVID-19 related situation will be dealt with accordingly to the guidelines published by the Maldives Health Protection Agency.
All guests are required to respect social distancing regulations and wear a mask in all public settings. Physical distancing guidelines will be clearly displayed and marked on the floor. Hand sanitization and hygiene facilities will also always be available for careful use.

Documents to remember
After such a long break from travelling, it is important to double-check that the following documents are in your possession when you arrive to the Maldives.
- A passport or a travel document with at least 6 months validity.
- Confirmation of pre-paid hotel booking/accommodation.
- Sufficient funds to last for the intended period of stay in Maldives.
- Have a valid ticket to continue the journey out of Maldives
- Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, if applicable.
On arrival procedure

No pre-arrival visa is required to enter the Maldives. A free tourist visa of 30 days will be granted on arrival for all Nationalities. For a longer holiday, this visa can be extended by applying to immigration for renewal of the visa during the first 30 days of the issued visa.

No contact thermal screenings will be conducted throughout the airport at all times.
No mandatory tests will be conducted unless the traveler presents COVID-19 like symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, fever, etc. The cost of PCR tests done on symptomatic tourists will be paid by the tourists themselves, or by the tourist facility, where the tourists have booked their stay at.
In the case of a positive PCR result, the tourist will either be transferred to a designated room for isolation at their booked accommodation or to a government run isolation facility.
Random PCR testing will be carried out for COVID-19 and bears no additional costs. This test is voluntary.
No symptoms mean no quarantine! However, precautionary measures such as social distancing and wearing masks at all times is necessary for the safety of everyone.
A representative from your chosen hotel or resort will be there to assist you through the transfer to your destination.
Procedure during departure
Taking a COVID-19 test before departure or at any point during your stay, can be arranged through contacting your resort staff. Testing before departure is not mandatory unless symptoms are present.
Again, it is mandatory that you fill in and submit the Traveler Health Declaration form no longer than 24 hours prior to your departure back home.
Additional tips to stay safe

We encourage all visitors to download the app Trace Ekee, available on both apple and android devices before arrival to the Maldives. This is a contact tracing app that will help secure the safety of yourself and others during the trip.
Please practice good hygiene and wash your hands regularly. Bring extra facemasks and hand sanitizer bottles to carry around conveniently.
If you experience any COVID-19 like symptoms, immediately alert the staff, and call 1676, the hotline for the Health Protection Agency of the Maldives.
